Bukidnon, as we know it, is surrounded with an ample amount of mountainous area, thus deriving its name from its geography. With some parts of the Mt. Apo mountain range extending up to this region, Bukidnon is rich in climbing spots. And as The Sound of Music implies, climb every mountain!
Today, we bring you a not so mainstream climbing spot which is ideal for people who doesn’t like to socialize that much, the introverts. Yampana ridge is located at Impasugong, Bukidnon. If you would like to break free from work or life stress or if you are an adrenaline junkie, this place is good for you. Also, for those people who would literally climb every mountain but had just started this new-found hobby, this place is perfect for newbies.
The Yampana Ridge Bukidnon is also a culturally-filled adventure since before you start the climb, you will have to ask for permission from the local tribe chief (Datu) and there will be some sort of offering. He will also be the one to provide a local guide.
The base will be at the Datu’s residence and it will be a 2 hours trek to the ridge’s peak. An overnight stay is also recommended as the ridge also features a sea of clouds just like most of the climbing spots in Bukidnon. The marvelous sight can be witnessed at around 5 o’clock at dawn (weather will be a factor).
A thick mountaineering jacket is a must bring item to protect you against the extreme cold and grass itch.
Other reminders might be just like what we always tell our avid readers, pack all the essentials you might need (esp. food, water, cash, camping gears), take a lot of pictures, don’t liter up and for heaven’s sake, please don’t start a fire!
